On a wet, icy day back in January, I teamed up with photographer Anouschka Rokebrand to style a boho bridal session where organic textures, a natural palette and classic, historical elements served as my inspiration. Thrilled as always to see my work featured, and this beauty made it onto the pages of the very beautiful Magnolia Rouge.
This orchard shoot we collaborated on together last fall? Well the moment we clapped eyes on our gorgeous model Lisa, we knew she’d be a lovely centrepiece to a bohemian inspired session that Anouschka had been dying to capture, and so this was born; a beautiful collection of images captured both digitally and on film.
I love seeing the contrast between grainy, romantic film images and crisp digital images. Both are beautiful, but I think the film shots in this particular shoot are so gorgeous. They capture the pure, raw and organic look I was intending for this styled shoot.
The shoot took place within the historical, glassed infused inner courtyard of the Prinsenhof Museum in charming Delft, the Netherlands. In the dark winter months it was important that we chose a location that offered as much natural light as possible, and the ‘Mandelazaal’ was perfect with its indoor courtyard lined with glass.
The classic-meets-modern backdrop of the shoot location inspired this session for the texture, light and simplicity with natural bohemian elements weaving their way into the florals, table setting and bridal styling.
Mottled brown feathers and single-stemmed eucalyptus springs set the bohemian tone to an otherwise a minimalist setting, featuring a vintage clad trestle table, a wild, oversized bridal bouquet and simple place card display against a plate of honed marble.
A halo of eucalyptus springs crown our boho bride, while a delicate trio of beaded wooden necklaces adorn the back of her bridal gown, shifting the focus and maximizing the design of the gown. I created the necklaces out of wooden and brass beads, pairing them with a delicate gold chain for a cascading effect that strikes a balance between earthy and glamorous.
The simplicity of style and organic elements make this one of my favourite collaborations to date. Big thank you to Anouschka for capturing everything so beautifully and to Magnolia Rouge for supporting our work. We had a wonderful team of creatives come together for this shoot – from florals, to stationary, to tableware – and they can all be found below.
Have a wonderful day,
