Flint’s New Cros Bike

FLINT'S NEW CROSS BIKE

OIn a month Flint will be 6 years old. 6(!) years old. The clichés shoot through my head; ‘how time flies’ ‘how big he is’, because nowadays he watches ‘cool’ videos of Transformers, swaps Pokémon cards with bigger kids at school, climbs high climbing frames and thinks he is a ‘cool guy’.But at the same time he is still my little man; he crawls onto my lap with the greatest of ease for a lovely cuddle and kiss, he asks us every evening during dinner if we want to help him scoop and he takes my hand when he finds something exciting.

Good Birthday Present

But what do you give such a ‘cool guy’ for his birthday? 😉 Sander and I had already agreed that it had to be a new bike, because his current bike is getting too small and he’s pedaling himself to death on his way to school. Flint really wanted a cross bike, one that you can do ‘stunts’ with. He can save the stunts for a few years, but we were charmed by this matt black BMW bike with gold details.
The bike was sent to our home in a large box. The handlebars, brakes, pedals, footrests and saddle still had to be mounted. Read; without instructions. Fortunately, assembling the bike was no problem for Sander, although it would have been a challenge for me if I had to do it alone. Especially mounting the brakes. But luckily I was able to make myself useful by screwing on the footrests. Not unimportant for the stunts ;).

The bike is still a bit too big for Flint, but fortunately the handlebars and saddle are adjustable. So now he can reach the ground with his feet. Very handy in busy city traffic. Because this bike has hand brakes (instead of coaster brakes on his old bike), Sander and Flint already made a test lap in the Kralingse Bos last Sunday. Watch the video below to see how they fared!
