HOW DOES SHE DO IT? Thothub And Weekend Entrepreneur

Stadse mother and entrepreneur. How does that go on the weekend?

Who: Esther (35, owner of ThotHub and Blogs), Sander (self-employed) and sons Flint (6) and Riff (1.5)
Where:
 Rotterdam

What does my life as a mother and entrepreneur look like on the weekend? As busy and hectic as during the week, when I’m rushing between the office, school and daycare? Stokke asked me to describe a random day of the weekend, so here we go!”

Saturday morning 7.00 am

No alarm clock that goes off, but our little man who always serves as an alarm clock around this time. Usually around 6.45 am, but until at least 7.00 am we are East Indian deaf 😉 Flint also wakes up from alarm clock Riff and together we get out of bed, while Sander often stays in bed for an hour longer.

Pancakes, porridge or bread

I usually bake oatmeal pancakes on the weekends, because we have a little more time. The pancakes are made in no time. Flint likes them best with powdered sugar and Riff likes them with some blueberries and banana. But Riff also likes a porridge, as you can see ;).

9.15 am Father-son outing

Saturday morning is a regular day for swimming lessons. Sander always takes care of this. Beforehand, we thought swimming lessons were awful; sitting in a swelteringly hot stand watching crying children who would rather do something else than swim. But nothing could be further from the truth. Flint really enjoys swimming lessons and it has really become a father-son outing!

11.30 am Lunch time!

After swimming lessons we usually go for lunch somewhere in the city. We really like the restaurants in and around the Pannenkoekstraat. So sometimes we have lunch at Picknick, Vlaamsch Broodhuys or Sajoer. We are also welcome guests at CROOS in Crooswijk. And once a month on Saturday they also have a Craft Club for kids aged 5-8, super fun!
Uit Je Eigen Stad is also a favourite! For the kids they have pancakes (not on the menu) and they can have fun outside in the sandbox or nature playground.

Afternoon nap

After lunch we usually go home, because Riff still needs to sleep. We usually mess around in the house (yes, the laundry still needs to be done) and Flint always plays with his Lego to relax after the rather intensive morning.

4:00 p.m.

At the end of the afternoon we often go to friends or family, because we have a party or drinks almost every weekend. Fun!
When there are no parties planned, we often go to the beach or have a bite to eat with the four of us. La Pizza is then a favorite. Super good and fast Italian food, near the Westerlijkhandelsterrein. Really recommended with kids. Go on time, because reservations are not possible.

When we eat at home, I often make pizza with Flint. His favorite. He cuts the mushrooms while I put the rest of the pizza on top. It’s fun to do together too.

8:00 p.m.

On the weekends, it’s usually around 8:00 PM that the boys go to bed. The oldest sometimes even later. On Sundays, they sleep in anyway. Right? (haha, who am I kidding here)

8:30 p.m.

After the boys have been put to bed, Sander and I slide onto the couch with a coke and a glass of bubbles. Ready for an evening of Netflix. The laptop stays closed. Not having to do anything for a while. That’s nice.
